As we ended 2012, Jasmine endured some tough days due to the treatments but she still continues with her incredible and very inspirational full of life spirit.
Due to the harsh side effects we were unable to plan a New Year’s Eve Celebration with all of our family and friends as usual. Jasmine being the loving family girl that she is and being told that it wasn’t going to be as always, she was left a bit upset. However, we told her that we would try to make the best of it. So we began our evening together by watching a movie, working on a puzzle. Then, as we began the countdown, her aunt and her family surprised us at the front door. So what began as a bit of a disappointing night for Jasmine, it turned out to be a nice celebration with some family afterall, and by 12:30 am she was fast asleep with a content and happy heart.
Jasmine just finished her 5th week of radiation and 11th chemotherapy treatments on Friday. She will begin her last week of radiation treatments on Monday and the chemotherapy treatments will continue as usual. This treatment was another tough one………what should have been a couple of hours long, ended up to be 6 hours. The doctor was concerned due to her weight loss of 22 pounds. She was also dehydrated and weak with a very fast heart rate, so she had to receive fluids through an IV. As expected this left Jasmine very annoyed and frustrated with having to stay there for so long. As this would break anybody, it just makes Jasmine want to fight more and continue to live life fully. After every treatment, as we have seen may be from 2 hours t0 6 hours daily, she stays positive and her focus is just to get home and get ready for a day of living life!
These 5 weeks have been full of trial and error on learning how to manage with the side effects. Thankfully, we reached some triumph at the end of the 5 weeks………today Jasmine was able to sit at the dinner table and enjoy a meal with us. What a GREAT day it was for us!

As we ring in the New Year we BELIEVE and we KNOW that with her strength, your prayers, love and support and our faith and hope in GOD we are ready for a cancer free 2013! And we have learned because of all of you that we are definitely not alone in this fight!
